The Little Things

What is happiness? Where it is? For some people, it is shaped in great things and great events, momentary and fast. Lapse of joy, balance for sorrow. For other people, it is in the simplest things, routine moments, childlike smile, and mother’s kiss. Constant and simple moments, blanket in winter, unexpected laughter, chocolate ice cream.

It does not matter what is the definition in the dictionary, nor that great definition quoted by your favorite writer. It is subjective, it is personal and it is up to each of us to define it, find it. Do not try to find it in the future, tomorrow, meet and dine with it every day, personify it and date with it, every day of your life. Sunny day, rainy day, cloudy day, warm day, cold day. Find it everywhere and at all times, in every gesture and in all things.

It does not matter if it seems distant or unreachable; it is there, waiting to be enjoyed, without questions, without foresight, without pretension. Get more, live longer, smile more and walk more side by side with that feeling that builds and constructs. They are the little things, are not they? Have a good week.

On the Mount of Olives

Who is that knocking at the door of my heart? Gentle, comforting, calm, serene, dignified, lovely.

Who is He that comforts me during all the difficult times which I find, who collects the dry leaves from the ground, waters them and makes them colored again? From black and white, He makes the rainbow, from death, He makes life and from music, He makes the silence.

He comes gentle as a lamb, even being the most ferocious wolf to my enemies and criminals. Not full of gold, but wherever He goes, He shines the more adjacent, symmetrical and shiny light ever.

He makes the weak, strong. The unbeliever, believer. The debtor, creditor. The dark, light.

Who is He that did not appear in the list of my best friends, but is waiting at the door outside to enter my heart, without becoming annoying; in difficult times, He is always the one there to comfort me.

Who is He that Galileo Galilei, Rene Descartes, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and many other philosophers and sages have never questioned His existence, even at their most vain philosophies and on their most intelligent science.

He turns my being, completes my existence and teaches me the true meaning of the word ‘love’. Love to the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost, so that, one day, everyone on Earth feel themselves welcomed and loved by His presence, which became so important in my life.

Beloved Father, perfect Father, warm, fair, please, walk always beside me. So I keep my days in this life, seeing light where there is darkness, love where there is hate, faith where there is disbelief and life where there is nothing.

Organizing the Wardrobe

Who has never enjoyed those idle moments when we start setting things up in the house, and always end up by organizing our dear and beloved wardrobe?!
Last week I relived this experience and I can tell you some things I learned philosophizing while I bended or put each piece of clothing on its hanger.

Have you noticed that our memory is like a wardrobe, always there, archived, ready to be reorganized and cleaned?

There are several types of pieces of clothing. Those which are very old, like our memories that needed to be rediscovered and revived.

When we find them again, we feel very happy and put them back better tidy, in a more strategic location not to forget them anymore.

There are those pieces of clothing that we do not know the reason why they are still there, as they no longer match us, and immediately we decided to take them out of the closet.

There are others for which we have great affection, but we know that if we move them forward, they will make other people happy.

There are several kinds of surprises in a simple arrangement of wardrobe. As in life, as well as in our memory, the important thing is to organize, store and distribute what is good to us, pass on a bit of happiness and throw away what is worthless.

Good week to all and good housekeeping!
